About Niger State

Niger State is located in the North Central Geo-political zone of Nigeria. It is a state with the largest landmass in the country covering approximately 10,000km2. The State capital is Minna, and other major cities are Suleja, Bida and Kontagora. There are numerous indigenous tribes in the state which include:-

Nupe, Gbagyi, kamuku, Kambari, Dukawa, Hausa, and Koro. It has numerous Tourist sites like the Zuma rock, Gurara waterfalls, Kainji lake wildlife park, Borgu Games Reserve, Zugurma game Reserve and about four Dams (Kainji, Jebba, Shiroro and now Zungeru).

The climate and availability of a wide variety of mineral and agricultural resources also attest to the economic potentials of the state. Every government that has come to power endeavored to provide good infrastructures such as roads, electricity, and water and communication facilities, to make way for interested investors. Some Natural And Mineral Resources Found In The State Include: Talc, Gold, Ball Clays, Silica, Sand, Marble, Copper, Iron, Felsper, Lead, Kaolin, Casserole, Columbite, Mica, Quartzite, And Limestone. The three hydroelectric power stations in the country (At Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro) are all situated in Niger State. Niger State is one of the richest states in the country in terms of tourism. Some of the tourist attractions are Zuma Rock, Gurara Falls, Baro Empire Hill, and Lord Lugard Colonial Ruins at Zungeru, Nagwamatse Well and Kainji Lake National Park.
